What is Gestalt Psychotherapy?

Gestalt Psychotherapy has been around for sixty years, its core philosophy is one of nurturing the wisdom we all carry inside us using the therapeutic relationship as a means of transformation. Gestalt Psychotherapists view clients as human beings, who have adapted and changed in relationship to their environment. By offering experiences that allow growth and transformation in the therapy room, clients can experiment and experience new ways of being that are more aligned with their authentic self.

Why do people come to see me?

Often they have tried to go it alone. They find trying to make changes in their lives is overwhelming, all the well intentioned advice they hear or read seems make change feel all the more unmanageable . Moving towards the edge of what feels impossible can bring up all of our insecurities and anxiety. This is often why change can be so difficult. Getting the right support early on allows you to take the time you need, and allows you to build confidence. It is this foundation that allows change to be more permanent.

How do I work?

My philosophy is that we each have a wisdom within us that knows what is needed at any time. Sometimes we just need some support to discover what that is. I work with clients to enable them to find out what works for them.
